TITLE:Targeting DNA damage response to enhance cancer therapeutic ratio

Dr. Xia is a radiation oncologist specializing in tumors of the central nervous system. She leads a research laboratory at the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Center, UAMS. In her laboratory, Dr. Xia works alongside other talented oncologists in pursuit of new ways to treat cancer. Dr. Xia and her team conduct federally funded research that focuses on the replication stress response and DNA damage repair mechanisms in normal and tumor cells after radiation therapy or chemotherapy. The research in Dr. Xia’s laboratory aims to understand the impact of deregulated DSB repair on carcinogenesis, tumor resistance, and normal tissue injury during cancer treatment. With the understanding of DNA repair process and its crosstalk with intracellular metabolism, and extracellular microenvironment, Dr. Xia hope to develop novel avenues for both cancer prevention and personalized cancer treatment.
