Ling ZHU, a direct Ph.D. student from the Jieping Program of 2021 at Capital Medical University.

 

During the college entrance examination, I scored between 660-670 in my province. I chose to attend the Jieping Program because it fosters students' scientific research and innovative thinking, permits exploration of interests, and offers comprehensive and professional guidance from two professors.

 

I am currently interested in mental illnesses especially depression.

 

I joined Mei Lab at the Chinese Institutes For Medical Research for the excellent guidance and equal communication from the tutor, the cultivation of critical thinking, and a friendly and harmonious laboratory atmosphere.

 

The scientific problem I hope to solve in the future is: The pathogenesis of mental illnesses such as depression and bipolar  disorder is still unclear. I aspire to conduct in-depth research to reveal the changes these diseases cause in the human body and their underlying biological mechanisms, providing more precise diagnostics and treatment strategies for patients.
