Laboratory Introduction
The Zhang laboratory develop novel computational and experimental methods to track human development, aging, and disease across time domains on single-cell, single-molecule resolution.
The laboratory conducts cross-disciplinary research with a combination of computational and experimental biological methods. We welcome colleagues with background in physics, computer science, biology, bioinformatics, and medicine to join our team.

A. Major Research Projects
The laboratory uses a combination of deep learning, bioinformatics, forward and reverse genetics, and sequencing approaches on human samples and animal models, to:
a. Develop methods to extract latent information from biological data.
b. Develop novel methods to resolve dynamic biological process from static samples.
c. Dissect the molecular mechanism of epigenome replication, particularly in aging and disease.
B. Major Contributions
a. Developed method to decode cell replicational age from single-cell ATAC-seq data (Nat.Biotech., 2024)
b. Provided evidence for how DNA secondary structure affect epigenome replication (BioRxiv, 2024)
c. Developed tools to convert Drosophila neuronal activity into genetic manipulable object (J.Neurogenetics, 2012)
