Laboratory Introduction

Dr. Zhang previously served as Professor at the University of Washington. He is currently Distinguished Investigator and Director of the Independent Cardiovascular Research Lab at CIMR, and holds the position of Distinguished Professor and Chairman of Department of Vascular Surgery, Capital Medical University.

 

Research Projects 

Dr. Zhang’s Lab performs basic science research on the etiologies, pathogenesis, pathophysiological changes; development and translation of innovative technologies for diagnosis and management of cardiovascular diseases through bioprinting, organoid chip, and hydrogel technologies.

· Mechanism and Translational study of abdominal aortic aneurysm.

· Construction and application of 3D bioprinted organoids-on-a-chip platforms towards cardiovascular diseases.

· Potential application of digital-light-processing (DLP)-based 3D bioprinting hydrogel in personalized vascular surgery

· Establishment of a Clinical Biobank for Cardiovascular and Peripheral Vascular Diseases

· Research and Development of Minimally Invasive Cardiovascular Therapeutic Devices

Open position

Research Associate Investigator / Research Assistant Investigator

Main Responsibilities:

a. Conduct research independently under the guidance of the PI.

b. Supervising graduate students; writing grant proposals and manuscripts.

 

Qualifications:

a. Research background in the cardiovascular field, with Ph.D. degree (or Ph.D. candidate). Associate Investigator need to have postdoctoral research experience;

b. Proficient in nucleic acid, protein, cell and molecule, high-throughput and omics and other related technologies;

c. Published research papers in mainstream journals in the field as the first author;

d. Has the ability to carry out research independently and guide graduate students;

e. Excellent English reading/writing and daily communication skills.
