Dr. Zhang's Lab performs basic science research on the etiologies, pathogenesis, pathophysiological changes of cardiovascular diseases; development and translation of innovative technologies for diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disorders.

Major Contributions

1. First use of a new negative pressure system for prevention and management of vascular surgical wound complications

2. Developed a new technique using physician modified re-constrainable endograft system for complex abdominal and thoracoabdominal aneurysms

3. Invented ZIPPER stentgraft system for mini-invasive total transfemoral endovascular repair of aortic arch pathologies

4. Invented a new percutaneous carotid reversal flow system for transcarotid artery stenting

5. Invented a new endograft system for endoleak prevention during and following endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm
